| Meralco ensures reliable power during elections |
|
MERALCO has been doing its part in solidifying the voting public’s confidence in the country’s first automated national and local elections on May 10, 2010.
As an appointed member of the Power Task Force Election 2010 by the Department of Energy (DOE ), Meralco formed its own team to ensure that on the critical days of the elections, polling and canvassing centers and all vital installations in the franchise will be provided reliable electric service. As of April 21, 2,778 polling centers and 107 canvassing centers have been accounted for. Out of these facilities, 2,613 have been confirmed to have active electric service. For those with inactive electric service or those in disconnected/ terminated status, (primarily due to unsettlement of bills) Meralco is currently undergoing negotiations through its business centers to have these accounts settled. If these accounts are not settled on time, an alternative plan is to reconnect these services on May 5 and then disconnect them one day after election procedures in precincts are finished. On operational progress, Meralco has been addressing concerns in the pre-election stages by regularly inspecting its distribution facilities. Deficiencies in its facilities are being corrected so as not to affect the conduct of election. A circuit contingency plan and operating procedure have also been prepared to restore power in case of a system blackout. The Meralco Call Center is also ready to accept calls regarding power troubles at 16211. The Meralco Halalan hotline can also be reached at 632-8118. Text messages regarding power problems can be sent to the following mobile numbers: 0917-5592824 and 0920-9292824. Customers may likewise text their reports to 0908- 8808576 and 0917-5326643 in the following syntax: HLLN e.g., “HLLN Meron pong wire na nag-i-spark dito sa aming polling center sa may Sampaloc. Nagpapatay-sindi po ang ilaw.” (Meralco Corporate Marketing) Comments (0)
