SEIPI, formed in 1984, is the national association representing about 250 semiconductor and electronics companies with a direct workforce of over 450,000 and another 3.1 million indirect (canteen, shuttle, janitors, security and others) hires. In 2009, semiconductor products were the largest source of export dollars, representing about $22 billion or 67% of the country’s exports.
