| Undaunted celebrates human spirit |
THE musicale “Undaunted” celebrates “the human spirit that animates us all to greatness in our lives.” So said Lopez Group chairman Oscar M. Lopez (OML) in remarks at the gala performance of “Undaunted,” staged in time for his 80th birthday.A lthough essentially directed to an internal audience of 14,000 employees across Group companies, OML said the musicale had “endearing messages to the nation at large.” Throughout the phoenix-like falling and rising of the Lopez fortunes, family members were guided by the following distinct Lopez values: a pioneering entrepreneurial spirit, business excellence, nationalism, unity and team work, a strong work ethic, integrity, social justice, and an overriding concern for employee welfare and wellness. “We know from generations of experience that it is by living according to these values that we are able to have companies that prosper and overcome adversities because these companies are built to last,” OML told some 600 guests, among them business partners and Lopez family friends, who graced the gala. ![]() Originally conceptualized to celebrate the Lopez Group’s 80th founding anniversary in 2008, “Undaunted” was rewritten to take on the point of view of OML, who himself wrote and published the family genealogy contained in a fourvolume work launched in 1982. A s a historian, OML has advocated the study and documentation of events and practices throughout generations, across different businesses and even from all over the world, in a desire to draw out lessons that will ensure the longevity of enterprises intended to serve the Filipino people. ![]() Comments (0)
