Alto Broadcasting makes the first TV broadcast in the country, of a party at owner Tony Quirino’s house. Among the guests is his brother, Pres. Elpidio Quirino.

Meralco sells $8 million worth of bonds, the first time for a private Filipino corporation to sell bonds to the US market. The bonds provide Meralco with financing for its power plant construction program.
