Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) continues to work “#Together4Teachers”—this year’s National Teachers’ Month/ National Teachers’ Day theme and hashtag—by developing new learning resources, providing access to Knowledge Channel videos to more schools and training teachers nationwide!
Adding to its array of video lessons are 12 episodes of “Puno ng Buhay,” five episodes of “Wow” and two episodes of “Siklo ng Enerhiya.” “Puno ng Buhay,” starring MayMay Entrata and Elijah Canlas, was developed with Forest Foundation Philippines (FFP). It teaches key science concepts and promotes forest protection and conservation. Another series with FFP that promotes nature protection and conservation and teaches appreciation of local culture, heritage and people, is “Wow.” Hosted by KCFI vice president Edric Calma, this “Wow” season focuses on Batanes, Rizal, Palawan, Leyte and Bukidnon. The latest videos of “Siklo ng Enerhiya,” an animated series done in partnership with the Department of Energy, tackles energy, energy distribution and the importance of a diverse and inclusive energy sector. These new episodes can be seen on Knowledge Channel’s on-air and online platforms.
To further support our teachers, KCFI continues to roll out training programs on 21st century teaching and learning. It recently conducted trainings in 12 Quezon City public schools through “EcoProject” Year 3, a collaboration with Unilever Breeze Philippines. With Sikat Solar Challenge Foundation, it provided Knowledge Channel Portable Media Libraries and trained recipients from three public schools in Rizal.
Mentoring is also being done among child development centers which participated in KCFI’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) training program in Burgos, Ilocos Norte in partnership with the New Zealand Embassy, and in Lobo, Batangas in partnership with the Rotary Clubs of District 3830.
KCFI’s ECD work and advocacy now extends to policy development levels. KCFI president and executive director Rina Lopez is a member of the Second Congressional Commission on Education or EDCOM2.
