On its 25th year of supporting education and early childhood development (ECD) through curriculum-based broadcasting and training programs for educators and other care providers of children, and alongside the celebration of National Children’s Month this November, Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) remains steadfast in its mission for the Filipino children.
Last month, KCFI and the Department of Education (DepEd) signed a new memorandum of agreement to continuously codevelop curriculum-based learning resources for ECD and basic education, with emphasis on early language literacies or reading and numeracy or math specifically for the primary grades; provision of support in training teachers; and exploring opportunities wherein Knowledge Channel would provide airtime for DepEd’s institutional communication and as key broadcast partner.
KCFI also launched “EcoPlay” with Unilever-Breeze and the DepEd schools division offices of Taguig-Pateros, Marikina and Quezon City on Oct. 7. Grades 4, 5 and 6 learners from the SDOs will play traditional Filipino games as after-school application of physical education curriculum concepts and to promote not only children engagement in healthy physical activities, but appreciation of local culture and resiliency among the youth. EcoPlay marks the fourth straight year of KCFI’s current collaboration with Unilever-Breeze.
The National Council for Children’s Television awarded KCFI on Oct. 18 for its out standing commitment to childfriendly content standards while “MathDali” and “Puno ng Buhay” received recognition for their exemplary adherence to child-friendly standards.
KCFI provided Knowledge Channel TV (KC TV) packages and technical training for Anastacio G. Canda Elementary School in Davao through partner Aboitiz Foundation, and for E.M. Fabella-Ansaldo Elementary School in Oriental Mindoro through partner Salesforce last month.
