KCFI and Breeze conduct the final leg of ‘EcoPlay’ at the Taguig-Pateros SDOReintruducing traditional Filipino games to a new generation, Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) and Unilever-Breeze concluded their first-ever “EcoPlay” for school year 2024-2025, engaging almost 150,000 learners, teachers and parents across the schools division offices (SDOs) of Marikina City, Quezon City and Taguig-Pateros.
A total of 92,018 learners viewed the EcoPlay video lesson to learn about traditional Filipino games and received EcoPlay journals. In addition, 51,959 grades 4-6 learners played the actual games during their PE classes. EcoPlay culminated in a Palarong Pinoy division meet in each SDO, where 1,787 representative learners from grades 4-6 competed. Winning schools were awarded Knowledge Channel TVs (KC TVs) containing video lessons, e-games and e-session guides.
Meanwhile, KCFI reached more and taught more at the beginning of the year. In January, 10 Misamis Oriental schools underwent Learning Effectively through Enhanced and Evidence-based Pedagogies or LEEP-Reading training, which equips grades 1-3 teachers with skills to teach learners how to read in English and Filipino, in partnership with FDC Misamis Power Corporation. Teachers from 14 schools in Morong, Rizal, also joined a “kumustahan” session to share their experiences and feedback on using their Knowledge Channel Portable Media Libraries (KC PMLs) from the Morong High School Alumni Association Northern California chapter.
Additionally, more areas received KC TV and KC PML packages through the support of partner organizations: Tanay, Rizal, with Sikat Solar Challenge Foundation, Oriental Mindoro with Bantay Bata 163, Camarines Sur and Sorsogon with BPI Foundation, Occidental Mindoro with PERRC Construction and Development Corporation, and Batangas, Quezon and Southern Leyte with GNPower Dinginin.
KCFI partnered with AIA Philippines to produce nine video lessons on science and health as part of AIA’s “Healthiest Schools” program, which provides educators with resources to help young learners develop healthy habits and implement changes to create happier, healthier schools and communities.
Furthermore, KCFI launched the “Class Project” mini-documentary competition in collaboration with the Philippine Association of Communication Educators or PACE, challenging college learners to explore the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through the experiences of Filipino children.
