DZMM’s Teaching, Learning, Caring (TLC) public service on wheels brought them medical assistance, readership promotion and literacy enhancement.
October 19 was a day to remember for the residents of Sitio San Isidro, Brgy. Tungkong Mangga, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan asThe DZMM TLC team kicked off the mission by distributing hot porridge to the residents, while Dr. Ted Esguerra discussed disaster and security awareness, focusing on typhoons and crime. Right after his lecture, Radyo Negosyo’s livelihood program demonstrated siomai and candle making to help the residents augment their income.
Towards noon, doctors and nurses offered free medical and dermatological consultation and dental extraction, and complimentary eyeglasses for residents 40 years old and above. Also, a brand-new wheelchair was given to a 22- year-old woman suffering from cerebral palsy.
On the other hand, the children enjoyed reading, coloring and drawing activities. “Traffic angel” Tina Marasigan read them a fable entitled “Tiktaktok at Pikpakbum,” a story about siblings who fight over the smallest things. This taught the children to love their brothers and sisters as they can depend on one another through thick and thin. As the session ended, their small tummies were filled with delicious cupcakes.
The DZMM team left the area with grins on their faces as they had aided a total of 1,490 Bulakeños that day.
