Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with BDO Foundation (BDOF) and Huawei Technologies to develop five video lessons for Grade 1 math and for the provision of Knowledge Channel Teaching in the New Normal or KCTINN—a three-day online training program to equip teachers and principals with 21st century pedagogies utilizing media and technology—to 100 public schools nationwide.
This collaborative project commenced in June 2022, with video production work set to wrap up by March 2023 and training rollouts to end in December 2022.
The MOA signing was graced by officials from the three organizations and witnessed by Department of Education Usec. Dr. Diosdado San Antonio and Usec. Tonisito Umali.
BDOF president Mario Deriquito said the transformational partnership will benefit Grade 1 students in public and private schools as well as over a thousand teachers from across the country. Peter Zhang, human resource director of Huawei Philippines, noted that this is a new education opportunity to make learning more interesting and to encourage teachers by upskilling and retooling them to improve learning outcomes.
Earlier, KCFI also partnered with Isla Lipana & Co. Foundation Inc. (ILCFI), Isla Lipana & Co./PwC Philippines’ corporate social responsibility arm. As media partner, KCFI will help in the promotion of the ILCFI “Our Values” photo-story contest highlighting Filipino values relevant to the education-based project. Further, under the agreement, ILCFI’s values photo-story teacher guides will be included in the Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library as added resources.
The MOA signing was attended by KCFI president and executive director Rina Lopez, director of operations Edric Calma and resource mobilization manager Liberty Reyes, PwC Philippines’ Roderick Danao (chairman and senior partner), Alex Cabrera (chairman emeritus and ILCFI president & chairman), Aldie Garcia (assurance partner and ILCFI trustee) and Allan Cao (assurance partner and ILCFI executive director).
