Kapamilya in Abra who felt the magnitude 7.0 earthquake on July 27 were quickly given aid as ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. (AFI) together with ABS-CBN News and Public Service headed to Abra to provide assistance.
Around 550 families got relief packs in barangays Cabaroan, Velasco and Bumagcat in Tayum that is near the epicenter of the earthquake, while 427 families received immediate support in barangays Cayapa and Bacooc in the town of Lagangilang.
“Salamat din sa inyo at natunugan niyo agad kami at nagrespond kayo,” Edwin Solano, local disaster risk reduction and management officer, said in an interview with “TV Patrol.”
According to Solano, the Tayum LGU organized an incident command post to respond to the needs of affected residents.
To help kapamilya affected by the earthquake, the public can donate through GCash. Just tap “Pay Bills,” choose “Others” and select “#GCashGivesBack.” AFI is one of the partner NGOs of GCash that will receive the donations.
