“Regenerace to Kapamilyarization,” a collaboration between the First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPH) and First Gen Corporation CSR and HR groups, was conducted in Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija on June 20-21, 2024.
In addition to FPH and First Gen new hires, employees from Pi Energy participated in the event. The event kicked off with 50 employees planting 120 seedlings of native tree species at the Biodiversity Center; the planting was facilitated with the Liberty Fisherman and Farmers Association, a group supported by First Gen. Climate Change 101 and Hydro 101 were conducted, covering topics about climate change and information about First Gen’s hydro power plant. In the plant tour, employees explored the operations of the hydro power plant and enjoyed the view of Pantabangan Dam.
On the second day, 29 employees participated in “RegeneRace to Kapamilyarization,” where teams navigated five stations covering various climate change concepts. Lessons included biodiversity conservation, waste management, energy composition, the whole-of-society approach and the tricky road to net zero emissions.
Claiming the top spot was Team Yellow composed of Leilani Yu and Marco Tolentino of Pi Energy and Rose Anne Malayaw of First Gen. In second place was Team Black with First Gen Clean Energy Complex’s (FGCEC) Nikko Jade Aquino and Pi Energy’s Tanya Kristina Flores. Team Green, with Harold Capidos of Pi Energy, Peachy Ann Allunar of FPH and Victor Emmanuel Fuentes of First Gen, took third place.
“You will not immediately realize what the station challenge is about since we’re focused on finishing the task, but during the synthesis, we knew the symbolisms and meanings—learnings that we will carry as we contribute to combating climate change,” FGCEC’s Clyde Princess Khim Oro said of the race.
“There will surely be loopholes and challenges as groups go on the journey, but working together as one with an organized strategy, we’ll be able to reach the end goal that is promising and will benefit us all,” added Mary Jane Gonzales of First Gen.
