How well do you know your art—and the Filipino language? To celebrate Buwan ng Wika, images were posted on the LopezLink Facebook page relating to the Complicated exhibit together with a word or phrase that the community members were invited to translate.
Over a total of five days, random prize drawings were held with all correct and complete answers, meaning they had to have the contest’s #LinggoNgWika hashtag. One winner per day received an exclusive Lopez Museum tumbler.
Jonathan Salazar correctly translated “$4 4k1n6 m64 k ~b+4” (“Sa aking mga kabata”) to grab the first Lopez Museum tumbler up for grabs. Joining the winners’ circle were Elsie Sulapas, who submitted “kahinahunan” as the translation of “quiescence” on July 31; Vhince Dinglasan (“paglagom” for “assimilation”) on August 1; and Ana Macabutas (“kalayaan” for “liberty”) on August 4.
Community members may visit LopezLink at http://lopezlink. ph/ or on Facebook to find out who the lucky Day 5 winner is.
Complicated featured commissioned works by guest artists Mike Adrao, Leslie de Chavez and Ea Torrado alongside the works of Juan Luna, Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo, Juvenal Sanso, BenCab, Ang Kiukok, Jerry Elizalde Navarro and other artworks from the museum’s collection.
Lopez Group employees with ID were given free guided tours of the exhibit on its last day on August 4.
