When my father, Oscar M. Lopez launched the Lopez Credo and Values last year, one of the ways we thought would help everyone understand their applications to our daily lives is to tell stories of how Lopez employees lived those values through the years.
My father always reminded us that the Lopez businesses have always operated on the basis of values deeply held by the Lopez family and he said that it was just about time for us to formally make these known to all the people we work with. It was ingrained to us that the Lopez businesses have and must always serve a higher goal than just making a return on material investments. The returns we seek are more in the higher realm of God and Country.
As chair of the Lopez Group HR Council (a corporate initiatives body whose main function is to foster unity and teamwork at the Lopez Group level), I was tasked to facilitate this story telling through social media even as my father Oscar M. Lopez continues to be the Group’s chief mentor.
It is an honor as well as a great responsibility to be assigned this role. Other than my HR Council responsibilities, since 2002, I have been the executive director of Lopez Museum and Head of Logistics at ABS-CBN.
My task is simple – to share with you stories that may help you understand the importance of the Lopez Values.
In the next few weeks, we will be launching a Facebook group for Lopez Group employees. I would like to personally invite you to join the Facebook group here.
Also, for those who don’t know me, I would like to introduce my avatar:
I would like to paraphrase my uncle Geny, he said we do not go to work each morning merely to make a financial profit… We go to work each day because it is our way to make our lives in this world meaningful by working in the service of God and the Filipino people.
Thank you.
