Beyond service, however, the Lopez dedication to upholding the truth, the championing of honesty, is something that contributed largely to our success, to our growth straight from the ground up and into the hearts of the people we serve.

As vanguards of information, with roots in publication through Manila Chronicle and in radio and tv broadcasting through ABS-CBN, we knew and took to heart the fact that the news not only had to be truthful, it had to be for the benefit of those who didn’t know better.

It was this kind of thinking that got the hero of our webcomic anthology, my father, Eugenio H. Lopez, Sr., the recognition he so rightly deserves—something that also got him into direct conflict with Ferdinand Marcos after supporting his run for presidency back in 1965.

For Enemy of My Enemy II, the fifth of the Lopez webcomic series, my father comes face-to-face with Marcos as he plunges the country into darkness under his iron hand.

Even though he was threatened, with his companies being seized or his resources undercut, the latest series shows us a man, a leader who cannot be silenced. Even as his body began to break down due to a debilitating disease, we are to see him as a man who demonstrated strength by opposing the whims of the dictator.

As I present to you the newest installment of our webcomic series, it is with sincere hope that I wish for you to enjoy this chapter and discover insights into what happened during a once tumultuous period in the history of our nation and of our company.
