ABS-CBN ended 2009 with a bang by ruling the nationwide weekday and weekend ratings in December 2009 based on the survey done by global research specialist Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS).

Child star Zaijan Jaranilla, who debuted in primetime as the miracle boy “Santino” in “May Bukas Pa,” finished the year in high spirits as the multi-awarded TV drama topped all weekday programs last month with an overall rating of 34 percent.

Providing “May Bukas Pa” with reliable pre-programming is ABS-CBN’s flagship and longest-running newscast “TV Patrol World,” which landed on top 2 with 33.9 percent.

The strong showing of the two programs continue with primetime dramas “Lovers in Paris” (30.2%) and “Dahil May Isang Ikaw” (29.6%) and the phenomenal hit reality program  “Pinoy Big Brother Double Up” (29%).

Rounding up the Kapamilya programs in top 10 were “Katorse” (28.7%) at 6th place and the noontime show “Wowowee” (23.3%) at 10th place, which both posted ratings seldom achieved by early primetime and daytime programs.

ABS-CBN continued its reign in the weekends, overpowering competition by taking nine slots in the Top Weekend 10 programs for December 2009. Leading the pack at number one is “Agimat Alamat ni Ramon Revilla,” top-billed by another primetime newcomer, Jolo Revilla.

The program, which posted a dominating 29.5 percent rating, is joined by tried and tested raters in “TV Patrol Sabado” (28.3%), “Rated K” (26.9%), “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (26.3%), “The Singing Bee” (25.2%), “PBB Double Up” (24.2%), and “Sharon” (23.3%). Kiddie comedy gag show “Goin Bulilit” (22.9%) and “Wowowee” (22.2%) complete the winning ABS-CBN team in the Top 10 in the ninth and tenth place, respectively.

After dominating the yearend ratings, ABS-CBN is expected to surge higher and stronger in 2010 with programs that don’t only feature seasoned and fresh talents but also compelling and entertaining stories.

Set to premiere this month are “Tanging Yaman” starring Erich Gonzalez, Ejay Falcon, and Enchong Dee, which replaces “Katorse” starting January 11 and “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo” headlined by Kris Aquino, Gabby Concepcion, Kim Chiu, and Gerald Anderson, which airs the following week.
