
PROVING that accountants also know how to let their hair down, the Lopez Group Comptrollers’ Circle held its fun-filled, whole-day general assembly and fellowship at the ELJ Communications Center recently. Group comptroller Pearl Catahan welcomed everyone to the event, which also happened to be the Circle’s 10th anniversary.
ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. (AFI) managing director Gina Lopez updated the Circle members on the ongoing rehabilitation efforts of
Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP).
Describing the group’s undertaking as “the project of a lifetime,” Lopez explained in detail why there is a need to clean and revive the waterway. On behalf of the Circle, Catahan later turned over a cash donation for the KBPIP. O ther guest speakers included psychologist, TV host and author Dr. Margie Holmes, Prof. Jessica Dator-Bercilla, Atty. Alexander Lacson, and SGV partners.
During the raffle that capped the event, several lucky winners were able to take home corporate giveaways and major prizes. The Comptrollers’ Circle members also enjoyed a tour around ABS-CBN and a peek into the studios of “
Wowowee” and “
SNN.”
O rganized with the support of Lopez Group chairman Oscar M. Lopez (OML) in 1999, the Comptrollers’ Circle aims to maintain a high quality of financial reporting in the Lopez Group and to promote a work-life balance among its members.
The major achievements include the development of a uniform chart of accounts and accounting policies and the issuance of an updated Planning and Control Manual for the Lopez Group of companies. Regular trainings and seminars are organized to keep the comptrollers and accountants updated on the current developments in accounting, taxation and regulatory requirements.
The Lopez Group Comptrollers’ Circle Core Team includes Catahan, Lito Banaag, Mon Pagdagdagan, Marvi Marcelino, Jei-Jei Gertes, Jingle Hernandez, Lanie Caimol and Vicky Martinez.
