The 11th Philippine Quill Awards IABC PhilippinesThe 11th Philippine Quill Awards IABC PhilippinesThe International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines announced today that September 21 will be the new deadline for entries for the 2012 Philippine Quill Awards, the country’s most prestigious and relevant award-giving body in business communication. Interested entrants can avail of the early bird deadline that has been moved to September 14.

IABC has also reset the seminars on how to prepare a winning entry for the Philippine Quill Awards on August 31 (Friday) at Unilab Bayanihan Annex in Mandaluyong City from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (P2,000 VAT inclusive) and for the 1st Philippine Student Quill Awards on September 10 (Friday) at ABS-CBN Studio Tours Office, ELJ Building, Quezon City from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (free for students). The new dates are in deference to the flooding and torrential rains suspending classes and work in Metro Manila last week.

IABC Philippines President and North Asia Regional Director Ritzi Villarico Ronquillo said that relief operations, rebuilding of homes and communities, and most important, the safety and well-being of entrants, members, their families and the communities that they serve are priority at this point.

The Philippine Quill Award is given to exceptional and socially relevant communication programs, skills, projects and creative work and designs that are highly effective and innovative for an organization to achieve its goals. Most important entries are exemplars of good governance, responsible organizational citizenship and social relevance to nation building and progress.

Annually, the entrants and winners have come from the nation’s biggest corporations, civic organizations, and government agencies. Winning entries reflect the best work and practices relevant to the times. These include communication work done in external communication, crisis communication, issue management, social responsibility, strategic processes, organizational communication, digital communication, photography, writing, audiovisuals, marketing communication, among others.

This year’s Philippine Quill race is expected to be as tough as last year, where only 118 entries passed the stringent screening and won awards.

Top winners in 2011 were the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s “Inquirer Read Along Program for its 25th anniversary” (Top Award in Communication Management), Insular Life Insurance Company Ltd.’s 100th anniversary coffee table book “1910-2010, The Century Past, Past, A Century Forward” (Top Award in Communication Skills), and Adobo Magazine (Top Award in Communication Creative). Smart Communications, on the other hand, was most awarded that night with 20 trophies.

The Philippine Quill judges, seasoned and multi-awarded communication professionals, look into the entry’s advocacy, technical merit, creativity, innovation, implementation, goal achievement, measurable results, and relevance to the communities and stakeholders it has identified and served.

With its high standard of judging, Philippine Quill is the country’s benchmark for communication work at global levels. Philippine Quill winners have gone on to win the international Gold Quill of IABC, an association of over 15,000 member-communicators around the world.

The award mechanics and entry form are available online at www.iabcphilippines.com . To register for the seminars and to submit your entries, contact the IABC Philippines Secretariat at Great Wall Building, 136 Yakal Street Makati City, at tel. nos. 756-0424, telefax 756-0441 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
