The ABS-CBN DocuCentral production, which first aired on Aug 13, drew many reactions from netizens who shared how they were affected by the heartbreaking images and stories they witnessed in the documentary by ABS-CBN news reporters Chiara Zambrano and Jeff Canoy.
Both Chiara and Jeff were assigned to cover the armed conflict in the Islamic city, where they saw firsthand the struggles of both residents and the military, in a war that has claimed many lives and has displaced thousands of people since May 23.
The stories of hope of our fellow Filipinos, amid the uncertainty of survival, made viewers emotional.
“Sakit sa dibdib ng #DiKaPasisiil. There is much to be done. Salamat @chiarazambrano @jeffcanoy and to your teams for all you do,” tweeted noted celebrity Bianca Gonzales-Intal while the episode was airing on ABS-CBN last Sunday afternoon.
Facebook user Janet Songano, meanwhile, was moved by the courage shown by soldiers and journalists in the Marawi war zone. She posted, "Di ka Pasisiil" an abs-cbn Marawi documentary. A big salute to our soldiers for raising our flag to the extent of risking your life and to our media men's for their bravery.”
The spokesperson for the Provincial Crisis Management Committee, and Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), assemblyman Zia Alonto Adiong also posted a picture of his eight year-old daughter’s letter to the soldiers, which he said was written by the child after watching the “Di Ka Pasisiil” documentary.
