Rockwell Land Corporation has opened Aruga Serviced Apartments, its maiden venture into the hospitality business.Aruga Serviced ApartmentsAruga Serviced Apartments
Aruga, located at Edades Tower and Garden Villas, offers 114 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units catering to the perceived growing market of businessmen, professionals and travelers seeking temporary residence close to the Makati Central Business District.

“The Aruga Serviced Apartments at Edades will be the first of Rockwell’s several ventures into hotel and leisure, which we plan to expand to different locations in the country,” said Nestor J. Padilla, president and chief executive officer of Rockwell Land.

Aruga, a Filipino word that means “nurture,” embodies Rockwell’s goal of delivering genuine Filipino service to guests, Padilla added.

The venture, which is being undertaken through subsidiary Rockwell Hotels & Leisure Management Corporation, is part of Rockwell’s bid to grow its recurring income from a mix of retail, office and hospitality segments. The goal is to attain a 65%-35% mix of residential development to commercial portfolio by 2016.

Rockwell plans to develop three more Aruga properties over the next five years.

According to Ellen Almodiel, Rockwell Land senior vice president for finance and accounting and chief finance officer, around half a billion of the company’s estimated P10 billion capital expenditure for the year will be allocated for the Aruga project.

“We saw the demand for short-term accommodations. There were a lot of inquiries for weekly, monthly accommodations,” Almodiel said.

Prices for a unit at Aruga start at P7,000.

In-room features include a fully equipped kitchen, audiovisual equipment, HDTV, electronic safe, electronic key card access and housekeeping services. The two-bedroom units also have a maid’s/utility room.

However, until August 31, 2014, clients may avail of Aruga’s special introductory rates starting at P6,000. Inclusions are a set breakfast for two at The Rockwell Club, WIFI, and access to a state-of-the-art gym facility, swimming pool, and a host of other sports and recreational facilities, as well as the spa and wellness center.
