6019033 origDe La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) and De La Salle Health Sciences Institute (DLSHSI) in Dasmariñas, Cavite have reaffirmed their commitment to a greener future by renewing their power supply contracts to continue to be powered by clean and reliable geothermal energy.

DLSU-D’s 27-hectare campus and DLSHSI will continue to be powered by geothermal energy supplied by the BaconManito Geothermal Project of Energy Development Corporation (EDC).

EDC has been supplying DLSU-D and DLSHSI with geothermal power since December 2016.

"We are happy to continue our partnership with EDC in supplying of our energy needs. It is the perfect partnership, given our very own sustainability initiatives here,” said DLSU-D and DLSHSI president Br. Augustine Boquer, FSC. “DLSHSI houses a big hospital and DLSU-D hosts thousands of students. We just want this partnership done as it is for the well-being of our patients and our students.”

“We are honored to share our advocacy for sustainability with DLSU-D and DLSHSI,” said EDC’s Marvin Kenneth Bailon. “We are happy to have a partner with a strong push for sustainability, and we believe this push will also be something the students can take with them into the future.”

DLSU-D currently ranks as the top Philippine university in the implementation of sustainability practices in the GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities conducted by Universitas Indonesia. It actively spearheads positive sustainable change through institutional programs and environmental awareness activities.

DLSHSI, meanwhile, is a full-complement medical and health institution that provides premium medicine and health professions education, healthcare and research services.
