The Lopez Achievement Awards (LAA) 2020 has been postponed and shall be combined with next year’s cycle, the LAA program management team announced via email early this month on behalf of the Lopez Group executive committee.
The team said the COVID-19 pandemic situation that continues to affect all the companies in the Lopez Group necessitated the postponement of what would have been the 18th year of the LAA. They also pointed out “the challenge to focus, coordinate and get comprehensive data during the preparations of the nominations” with employees largely working from their homes.
At the same time, deferring this year’s cycle shows the Lopez Group’s solidarity with ABS-CBN, one of the biggest supporters of the LAA.
The program management team reported that it had received a total of three nominations for the LAA and was processing another six nominations prior to the postponement. One nomination for the Unsung Hero award was being processed alongside six entries for the Lifetime Achievement awards.
These will all be combined with LAA 2021 nominations, the team added.
The winners of the LAA 2020 and LAA 2021, when they are finally selected and announced, will join the total of 135 LAA Excellence Awards, 13 Unsung Hero Awards and six Lifetime Achievement Awards recipients since 2002.
“On behalf of the Lopez Group executive committee, the LAA program management team wishes to thank all those who have already submitted their nominations as well as those who are still in the process of preparing them,” the team concluded.
