Ten employees from four companies were recognized at the 2021 Lopez Service Awards held online on Dec. 14, 2021.
Awarded by each company for their corresponding years of service were the following: Lopez Inc.’s Marifi Hernandez (25), Marson Gaguis (25) and Larry Ibalio (5); Lopez Holdings Corporation’s Maria Amina Amado (15), Marlon Fajardo (15), Norma Garife (15) and Miguel L. Lopez (10); Eugenio Lopez Foundation Inc.’s Mark Cel Manalili (15) and Ricardo Calizon (5); and Lopez Group Foundation Inc.’s Leny Reyes (5).
Commenting on the event’s theme, “For a Better New Normal through Business Excellence and Unity,” Lopez Holdings chairman emeritus Manuel M. Lopez said: “Part of the better normal is really being ready for anything, including all COVID variants. Even as you work from your homes, you must be aware of the risks to your health and safety, and act accordingly.” He also encouraged everyone to “stay in the pink of health.”
Expressing the common sentiment of her fellow awardees, Garife thanked the Lopez family for the “opportunity and trust” given to employees. “Kayo ang bumuo ng pagkatao ko, kung anuman ang meron ako at ang buong pamilya ko ngayon, galing po iyon sa inyo. Ipagdarasal ko na biyayaan kayo ng mahabang buhay, mailayo sa karamdaman at laging magkaroon ng masaganang buhay.”
Garife has been with the Lopez Group since 1986, first with Lopez Inc., and then moved to Lopez Holdings in 2005.
Lopez Holdings chairman and Lopez Inc. president Federico R. Lopez closed the ceremony by reminding everyone to pay heed to the climate crisis that has led to more frequent extreme weather events in recent years. He said the mission to “forge collaborative pathways for a decarbonized and regenerative future” should be adopted by all Lopez Group companies as their firm commitment toward a “resilient, socially inclusive planet.” (Story/Photos by: Carla Paras-Sison)
