PEZA director general Tereso Panga and PEZA board members and management officials were given a tour of FPIP, including the manufacturing facilities of PMCMI and Collins AerospaceFirst Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) welcomed the board members of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) for their meeting held at FPIP on April 19, 2024.
Led by chief commercial officer Joval Pantangco, FPIP took the opportunity to highlight how the park and its locators are contributing toward building the country’s manufacturing industry.
PEZA director general Tereso Panga, PEZA board members from the departments of Energy, Interior and Local Government, Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources, Finance, and Labor and Employment, the National Economic and Development Authority, and PEZA management officials were given a glimpse of the industrial park as well as the manufacturing facilities of Collins Aerospace Philippines and Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata Inc. (PMCMI).
Collins’ Batangas plant, which manufactures cabin interiors, recently delivered Philippinemade Meridian main cabin seats to Airbus.
PMCMI is the local unit of Japan-based electronics giant Murata Manufacturing Ltd. As the largest production site in Asia of multilayer ceramic capacitors, it has an ongoing expansion in its facility.
Pantangco underscored the importance of the event to FPIP: “FPIP was initially established as a response to the government’s call to catalyze industrial growth. Twenty-eight years later, we continue to work together with the government, PEZA and other promotion agencies to make the Philippines the top choice for investments by foreign investors.
“Having the same goals as PEZA, we are driven to continuously elevate industry and communities while giving precedence to protecting our natural resources through regeneration and decarbonization. We believe that boosting economic opportunities for the country does not just provide quality employment opportunities to more Filipinos. It also allows us to showcase Filipino talent to the world just like what our current locators are doing today,” he added.
During the board meeting, PEZA through Panga greenlighted 73 new and expansion projects worth P29.955 billion for the first quarter that will create nearly 15,000 direct employment opportunities for the Filipino workforce and $1,094.65 million in exports.
