In November last year, an original Filipino digital movie broke the internet after its trailer earned more than six million views in 24 hours.
That movie was “Glorious,” an original offering from streaming service iWant whose story about a May-December love affair featuring Angel Aquino and Tony Labrusca piqued netizens’ curiosity.
Since then, iWant has been changing the landscape of Filipino entertainment and digital content as it enlisted different creators and filmmakers to produce more original series and movies of different genres released month after month.
This May, iWant will release more new original offerings such as the romance-drama series “Past Present Perfect” starring Shaina Magdayao and Loisa Andalio, and Dreamscape Digital’s exclusive original series “Sino Ang Maysala?: Mea Culpa.”
In March, iWant had launched the series “Bagman,” whose engaging showcase of politics, drama and action topped off with Arjo Atayde’s portrayal of a barber-turned-governor’s henchman has generated praise from users.
As the first streaming service developed by Filipinos for Filipinos, iWant has launched free original titles, including the intergalactic romance-drama series “Jhon en Martian,” teen fantasy series “Spirits Reawaken” and the live variety show “iWant ASAP” headlined by the country’s hottest artists and performers.
This year, users can expect new additions to iWant’s diverse lineup of original content, including “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 3” featuring Eugene Domingo’s return to her iconic role as a fictionalized version of herself and “Mga Batang Poz,” which tells the story of four Filipino teenagers with HIV, and the sexy comedy "Don't Call Me Tita,” “Kargo,” “She’s Into Her” and “Taiwan You Love.”
Aside from its original titles, iWant boasts the biggest library of blockbuster Filipino movies, including “Barcelona: A Love Untold,” “My Ex and Whys,” “One More Chance,” “Kita Kita,” “No Other Woman” and “Sukob,” among others, all of which can accessed for free.
On top of that, iWant users can livestream their favorite sports events and revisit the highlights of the games of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, National Collegiate Athletic Association, Premier Volleyball League, Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, ASEAN Basketball League, Alab Pilipinas, Pinoy Pride, boxing events and national tournaments in the onestop iWant Sports section.
The streaming service also allows Filipinos to catch up on currently airing ABS-CBN teleseryes, as well as rewatch their favorite shows like the ‘90s teen drama series “Tabing Ilog” and the phenomenal hit “Be Careful With My Heart.”
More subscribers can satisfy their iWant craving in the comfort of their own homes as they can already connect the streaming service to their TVs via Chromecast and Apple Airplay. Filipinos can also access more shows and movies without breaking the bank by availing of Smart’s and Globe’s respective promos.
With iWant, which is available on iOS and Android or via web browser on iwant.ph, users can get their entertainment and information fix by watching truly Filipino content that they want for free, whenever and wherever they are. (Story/Photos by: Kane Choa)
