Believe it or not, SKY’s year-end Christmas celebration was attended by over 1,000 SKY employees across 22 offices nationwide.
How did they pull it off? It was quite a feat to do it on a single date and time at different venues. But the SKY team was able to achieve this grand simultaneous celebration through coordination efforts with the various offices—and the power of Zoom.
Each SKY office was ready with decorations, on-site and online hosts, and party food and drinks. Shared big screens and audio facilities were put up so the employees wherever they were can view the main program coming from the Dolphy Theater in ABS-CBN compound in Quezon City, where the ELJ-based employees were.
What made the party even more fun was each SKY venue was allowed to express their own touches and local flavor in how they prepared for their party. Some sites decorated with balloons and others wore agreed-upon colors. SKY leaders were identified per party area to lead the celebrations in their assigned site.
During the program which was shared via Zoom to all sites, main SKY hosts Mico Marco of CPPAG and Winnie Agustin of consumer business virtually visited all the various party venues nationwide to greet the SKY employees there and interact with the respective host counterparts.
SKY employees also listened to inspiring messages from ABS-CBN chairman Mark L. Lopez, ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo L. Katigbak and SKY president and COO Jaja Suarez during the shared program. In addition, handpicked local SKY talents from each office were given a chance be discovered and perform in front of their cheering SKY kapamilya.
The second part of the party involved a lot more action, as this was spent playing rounds of party games that were the same across all sites, such as balloon games, limbo rock and volleyball using a blanket. This was so that points from every site can be counted and nationwide winners can be determined, at least in theory (some sites had so much fun and had a hard time keeping track).
The party was capped on a very busog note with the SKY employees enjoying their salusalo—the highlight of which was beer and lechon. Open mic karaoke machines were prepared in the sites, so employees can sing and serenade one another in the background.
“This is one of the happiest SKY Christmas parties we had!” was the remark of Davao’s Rhods Legita after the party. Legita echoed the sentiment of many SKY kapamilya, who were far apart during the occasion but felt united as one happy family because of the SKY year-end celebration.
